About Sobha Realty Metro Station

Sobha Realty Metro Station (R36) is a major interchange station on the Dubai Metro Red Line, located in the Dubai Marina district in Nol Zone 2. It is the point where the Route 2020 extension branches off from the main Red Line toward Expo City Dubai, and also serves as the metro connection to the Dubai Tram network — making it one of the most multimodal transit hubs in the city. The station is named after Sobha Realty, a large UAE real estate development group.

The station opened in September 2009 as part of the original Red Line. The Dubai Tram interchange was added in 2014 when the tram network launched, connecting Sobha Realty station to Jumeirah Beach Residence, Palm Jumeirah Monorail, and Media City via a dedicated tram corridor. This interchange means the sobha realty metro station is a gateway to some of Dubai's most visited leisure destinations, and the station sees heavy passenger flows on weekends and during major events at JBR or The Beach.

The station is adjacent to Sheikh Zayed Road at the point where the SZR / Al Mamsha road corridor meets the Dubai Marina waterway. Dubai Marina Walk's southern end is approximately 400 metres from the station, with JBR The Walk and its beach access around 600 metres. Several Dubai Marina high-rise residential towers with ground-floor retail and dining are within immediate walking distance. The Tram stop is barely 100 metres from the metro exit.

From Sobha Realty station, key Red Line destinations include: DMCC Station (R35) 1 stop toward Rashidiya in 3 minutes; Mall of the Emirates (R32) 4 stops back in approximately 10 minutes; Burj Khalifa / Dubai Mall (R25) 11 stops in 25 minutes; and the Dubai Tram from the adjacent tram stop reaches Palm Jumeirah Monorail gate in about 15 minutes and Media City in about 10 minutes. For Route 2020, The Gardens (R70) is the first branching stop and Expo City Dubai (R76) is the terminus.

The station is heavily used by Dubai Marina and JBR residents, weekend visitors to the beach, and commuters from Jumeirah Heights and Discovery Gardens using the Route 2020 branch. A practical travel tip: the sobha realty metro station tram interchange is the preferred way to reach Palm Jumeirah Nakheel Mall or the Atlantis monorail connection — the tram avoids the notoriously congested marina road. The Zone 2 Silver Nol fare is AED 5.00, and the same card works on the Dubai Tram.

About Dubai Marina — Sobha Realty Metro Station Area

Dubai Marina is the world's largest man-made marina, a 3.5 km waterway flanked by over 200 residential and hotel towers accommodating more than 55,000 residents. The sobha realty metro station sits at the southern entry point to this district, connecting the marina community to the wider metro network. The Marina Walk — the 7 km pedestrian promenade ringing the waterway — passes through a continuous sequence of waterfront restaurants, yacht berths, and cafes that become busy from late afternoon into the night.

JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence) adjoins Dubai Marina to the west and is Dubai's most accessible beachfront neighbourhood — The Walk promenade is lined with retail and dining, and The Beach outdoor mall faces the water. The area sees some of Dubai's highest weekend visitor volumes, and the combination of metro plus tram makes it feasible to visit without a car. The Dubai Tram stop adjacent to Sobha Realty station is the cleanest transit connection: one or two tram stops reach the main JBR and beach access points.

Practical note for marina visitors: on Friday and Saturday evenings the sobha metro station can be crowded with returning visitors. The last metro departs around midnight (00:00 Sunday to Thursday, 01:00 Friday) so plan returns accordingly for late-evening events. The Dubai Tram operates until 01:00 (02:00 on Friday and Saturday), which can be a useful extension if the metro has closed.

Here is a straightforward guide to entering, navigating, and exiting Sobha Realty Metro Station Station whether you are a first-time visitor or a regular commuter.
