About Al Furjan Metro Station — Route 2020 Line

Al Furjan metro station (R72) is on the Route 2020 Line in Nol Zone 3, serving the Al Furjan master-planned residential community developed by Nakheel Properties in the western reaches of Dubai. The station is ground-level — one of the few on the Dubai Metro network not elevated or underground — which gives it a more open, community-facing character. It is integrated with The Pavilion Al Furjan shopping centre directly alongside the station building, with direct covered access to shops and food outlets without stepping outside.

The Route 2020 Line extension opened in June 2020, just before the Expo 2020 event, bringing metro access to areas of western Dubai that had previously been car-dependent. Al Furjan station was part of this extension and quickly became the primary transit hub for the Al Furjan, Discovery Gardens, and parts of Jebel Ali Village communities. The station serves a growing residential population with many of the area's newer apartment developments marketed around proximity to the metro al furjan dubai connection.

The station is located on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road service roads within the Al Furjan development. The Pavilion Al Furjan is immediately adjacent with a Spinneys supermarket, pharmacies, cafes, and restaurants. Ibn Battuta Mall is approximately 3 kilometres east — a short taxi or two stops on the metro to Ibn Battuta station. Discovery Gardens is approximately 2.5 kilometres west by taxi or bus.

From the furjan metro station, key destinations on the Route 2020 Line are directly reachable: Expo City Dubai (Expo 2020 station) is approximately 15 minutes southwest; DMCC (Jumeirah Lakes Towers) is approximately 20 minutes northeast; Mall of the Emirates is approximately 30 minutes with one change at Jabal Ali onto the Red Line. The journey into Downtown Dubai takes approximately 45 minutes with a change to the Red Line at either Jabal Ali or DMCC.

The al furjan metro zone 3 designation means fares are higher than stations in Zone 1: Silver Nol Card fare is AED 6.50 for intra-zone 3 journeys and rises with each zone crossed. First-time visitors should note that the Nol Card daily cap of AED 20 Silver applies — so if you are making more than three long-distance Zone 3 journeys in a day, you stop paying after reaching the cap. The station has lifts, screen doors, Gold Class (Car 1), and a Women and Children's car (Car 3).

About Al Furjan — Metro Near Al Furjan Community

Al Furjan is a Nakheel-developed master-planned residential community in western Dubai, consisting of villas, townhouses, and low-rise apartment blocks. It was developed in two phases — Al Furjan East and Al Furjan West — and caters primarily to families and professionals working in the Jebel Ali Free Zone or along Sheikh Zayed Road. The community has a deliberate "neighbourhood" feel with tree-lined internal streets, a cycling track, and community parks set between residential clusters.

The Pavilion Al Furjan is the commercial hub of the community, located directly at the metro near al furjan community station entrance. It contains a Spinneys supermarket, LIFE Pharmacy, cafes, restaurants, and several service businesses. A second commercial area — The Pavilion (South) — is approximately 800 metres away and contains additional dining and service options. The area around the station is pedestrian-friendly by Dubai western suburb standards, with covered walkways connecting the residential buildings to the station building.

Practical tips: Al Furjan is a car-oriented community despite the metro connection — bus services are limited and most internal community trips require a taxi or private car. The al furjan red line metro classification is a common informal name, but the station is technically on the Route 2020 extension, not the main Red Line trunk. The cycling track connects Al Furjan to Discovery Gardens and parts of Jebel Ali Village. Parking at The Pavilion is free for the first two hours, useful if picking up from the station by car.

How to Use Al Furjan Metro Station Metro Station

Here is a straightforward guide to entering, navigating, and exiting Al Furjan Metro Station Station whether you are a first-time visitor or a regular commuter.

  1. Look for the Dubai Metro logo (red M on white background) on street signage. Al Furjan Metro Station has multiple exits — check which exit is closest to your destination before entering. Exit maps are displayed at the top of the stairs and beside the gates.

  2. Tap your Silver or Gold Nol Card on the reader at the entrance gate. The gate will display your remaining balance. If your balance is below AED 3.00 the gate will not open — top up at the vending machines beside the gates before entering.

  3. Check the overhead direction signs on the platform. On the Red Line trains run towards Centrepoint (Rashidiya) in one direction and towards UAE Exchange / Expo City in the other. On the Green Line trains run towards Etisalat by e& or towards Creek. Confirm your direction on the station map before the train arrives.

  4. Stand behind the yellow safety line until the train stops and doors open. Let passengers exit first then board. Tap your Nol Card at the exit gates at your destination — forgetting to tap out results in the maximum fare being charged for that journey.

Nol Card tip: If you are visiting Dubai for more than 2 days a Silver Nol Card (AED 25 including AED 19 travel credit) saves money compared to buying individual paper tickets. It works on metro, bus, tram, and water bus across all of Dubai. Available at every metro station vending machine.
